Bacillus subtilis is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium that is commonly found in soil and the gastrointestinal tract of animals. It is renowned for its ability to form endospores, which are highly resistant structures that allow it to survive harsh conditions, such as high temperatures, pressure, and low pH, commonly encountered during feed processing (pelleting) and passage through the stomach. This spore-forming capability makes it exceptionally suitable for use as a stable and viable feed additive.
